USANA Athletes and the WTA Rule the Podium

USANA Athletes: It Just Keeps Getting Better

With Alan Bergstrom....

Liezel Huber
A Weekend with the WTA
A few of us will be leaving for Indian Wells, California, tomorrow to meet with members of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and several of the USANA Brand Ambassadors. We will be gathering promotional material, including photos and video, to be used throughout the year.

From a social media standpoint I'm excited because I'm hoping to give readers a true behind-the-scenes look at these incredible athletes and this first-rate organization. I'm also hoping to get a player or two to conduct a 5 Quick Questions (and Answers) for us. Stay tuned for updates and be sure to tune in to the upcoming BNP Paribas Open (March 7-20).

By the way, one of our brand ambassadors — Liezel Huber — and partner María José Martínez Sánchez won the doubles title at the prestigious Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in late February. Congratulations!

Shabazz, Lee Win in the Ring
Two boxers earned impressive victories recently, with Sijuola Shabazz earning a World Series of Boxing victory on Feb. 18 and Mike Lee claiming a win in a light heavyweight bout in Las Vegas on Feb. 26. Congratulations to both of these up-and-coming fighters. Read more about Siju here and Mike here.

More on Mike Lee...
Thanks to Chris Vaisnoras for sending along a few photos and links to articles about Mike's fight. It looks like Team Lee was in full force in Vegas! We'll keep you posted on where to see Mike fight next.

Speaking of Boxing...
Check out this painting of the champ Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley that Stephen Lindsteadt painted. Very cool! Also, here is an article about Timothy written by Jake Emen of ProBoxing-Fans.com.

A Record-Setting Performance
Biathlon Canada's Scott Gow, 20, completed the "golden hat trick" and then set a record with four gold medals at the Canada Winter Games. Way to go! He takes USANA's special SportsPak. "This was a great week," Scott said. "To be able to sweep the medals and then get to the top of the podium with each of my teammates together on the final day is awesome."

The Biathlon World Championships started on March 3 and run through March 13 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The North American Championships will be held in Whistler, British Columbia, March 31-April 3. Here's a great site to keep updated on Biathlon Canada's events.

Lindsey Van
Ski Jumpers Eye Olympics
The U.S. Women's Ski Jumping Team spent some time in Norway recently at the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships. Here's a story about the event, but perhaps even more exciting was the news (and this news) that came out this week.

The sport, which hasn't been allowed in the Olympics, is inching closer to inclusion in the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. We're wishing the team the best!

Bonus: Don't miss this Deseret News article about ski jumper Lindsey Van. What an admirable athlete and person!

Additionally...
  • If you haven't seen this fun video with USANA-sponsored steer wrestler Todd Suhn and former NFL great Eddie George, be sure to check it out. Todd will be busy this month, with events in Glen Rose, Texas (March 6), Houston, Texas (March 13-15), Mercedes, Texas (March 17), Austin, Texas (March 22-23), Huntsville, Texas (March 23-24), and at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City (March 31-April 3).
  • Here's an interesting story on New York Mets pitcher D.J. Carrasco. Who knew he's a collector of classic cars?
  • Mogul skier Audrey Robichaud stopped by the Home Office early in February and kindly took time to answer a few questions for our social media community.
  • Keep an eye on the US Speedskating, Speed Skating Canada, and the Great Britain Short Track Speed Skating (congrats to Jon Eley) teams. We were excited to see world-class skating right in our own backyard at the Utah Olympic Oval in mid-February. Here's an inside-look video featuring US Speedskating's Katherine Reutter.
  • Congratulations to Jennifer Azzi on completing her first season as head coach of the University of San Francisco women's basketball team. While the wins might not have been as plentiful as she would have liked, she kept the season in perspective. Can't wait until next year!
